I too have had not very good interactions with that person on FSE; somewhat of a "Bully" attitude that I do not appreciate.

Quick answer before my shift; Being that SNA is Class C - you will be talking to departure and assigned that heading no matter if you are requesting flight following outside the airspace or not. At least that's how it works at my Class C. There really isn't a way around those headings at bigger airp...

Jim, no problem at all... Not all real world controllers are old cranky guys (however yes some are, trust me :lol: ). Usually we all try to help in whatever method we can to provide a service. If you are a pilot real world I would really recommend talking to local controllers to visit their facility...
