Alphabet Challenge: WUS Edition

I have been accused from time to time of taking things to the extreme. I don't dispute those accusations. And it is in that vain that I decided to spend a couple free hours last night compiling a list of every single FAA-coded airport in the entire Western US Expansion area! The Excel spre...

Re: X-Plane 10 + Linux my experience

So the machine would be used for the sim primarily, and I would probably put a partition aside for various tinkering projects. I do intend to make it a nicer system and I'm willing to spend a little money on it (not that I don't want to save where I can of course :D ). Future-proofing is the main re...

Re: X-Plane 10 + Linux my experience

Well I've been planning a budget of up to 1500 USD. How does this look?

Re: Manchester BLVD

If you look to the left end of the blue line below the Manchester Blvd label, you can see the grey roadway marking curving south, as it does in the Google image at the west end. The chart is indicating that the Class B airspace runs along that roadway, and that to the north of it, you are clear of c...

Re: News.

I'd like to see it as one area at a time instead I think. For example for one month out of the year, operate all the towered airports in the Seattle area (like say all the Puget Sound), then the next month, do KDEN and the mountains of CO. Then KABQ and the desert around it. A little more interestin...

COM 2 Mic?

Hey folks, wondering if anyone else is experiencing issues with this. I just got a new aircraft, (http://store.x-plane.org/Piper-PA28R-Arrow-III_p_319.html) and it has a shiny COM 2 Mic button that I can use to switch to the secondary radio. However when I activate the COM 2 Mic, PE controllers stil...

Re: X-Plane 10 + Linux my experience

Very nice! A Linux sim setup has been on my backlog for a long time now. It sounds like SteamOS is the easiest way to go considering the drivers it has. I'm hoping to be able to begin selecting hardware soon, would you mind sharing your hardware setup or any recommendations? I don't have any old PCs...
