Re: Need some advice...
I'm surprised you weren't given pattern entry instructions way before you were already over the numbers at a towered field. Were you transferred from approach to tower late?

Name for A/B/C/D Airspace
This is an extremely pedantic and trivial question, but I'm curious. Is there a name specifically for airspace with communication requirements (A/B/C/D/Restricted)? You can't just say "controlled airspace" because that includes Echo, which doesn't fit. You can't call it "restricted&qu...

Re: Handoff Question
This just happened to me on a real-world flight. My route was Trenton (KTTN) to Monmouth (KBLM), then down the coast to Atlantic City (KACY). On the climb-out from Monmouth, I called McQuire approach and requested flight following. He gave me a squawk code, but never replied with "Radar Contact...

Re: Apologies to the controllers
"John Wayne Ground... really? At the hold short line?! You f*#$ing moron!" A month or so ago, I was flying out of a small non-towered field (N87 Robbinsville) near my home Class D field (KTTN Trenton Mercer). Shortly after takeoff from Robbinsville, I called Trenton to get back into the C...

Re: no atis ksfo klax
Sadly, I have the same problem at my home field, KTTN. The real-world ATIS is 126.77 and the X-Plane ATIS is 126.77, but there's no broadcast on that frequency in the sim.

Re: F18's buzzing hikers
I work for a company that manufactures wind turbines and develops wind farms. We have one on the side of a ridge in WV called Mt. Storm. This wind farm sits right at the intersection of several IFR and VFR military training routes, including VR1754. One of my co-workers who visits that site regularl...
