I'm doing my instrument rating lessons so I love this weather!asad112 wrote:Thanks a lot. Talan can probably confirm that the biggest obstacle now in getting any sort of flying done is weather. I haven't seen this much rain in the area for almost 8 years.

Re: Hand flying
Hand flying with a Saitek yoke is harder than with a joystick, I've found. The spring is too strong at the center and the axis tends to bind a bit - all that combines to make small pitch corrections very hard. It is possible to do, but after flying with an X52 and now a much higher quality yoke the...

Re: Hand flying
I use FSUIPC and did some modification to increase the trim speed which helps a bit. Still hard to get right without the resistance. I think what I'll do is use autopilot, still do my scan and move controls as if I was flying in between procedural things.

Hand flying
I have a Saitek yoke and pedals so decide to Try to hand fly an entire flight today. Typical I turn autopilot on about 1000 ft AGL and off at minimums, so only hand fly take offs and landings. It was a mess http://peaware.pilotedge.net/flight.cfm?id=100135 . I kept my heading but even trimmed up was...

Re: Setting IMC
This makes sense. I'm not sure with ASN if I can drop cloud cover without having to change wind, I can look into that. I use track IR so I can set it to put the gauges right in my face and just not look out until I reach minimums. That might be the best choice.

Re: some nice feedback...
I'm a private pilot who finally decided to buckle down on my instrument rating. I'm a handful of lessons into it but fly about 100 hours VFR a year. I'm a bit cyclic on playing with simulators but felt now would be a good time to use PE as a training tool. Jumped right in to I1 since I'm familiar wi...

Setting IMC
I use ActiveSky Next for weather. How does this work with manually setting up some IMC conditions? I heard the controllers giving conditions, do I just ignore that and is it possible they will deny an approach based on the wind conditions they're showing?

Re: PE Transponder stuck behind all other windows
I didn't even realize there was a PE transponder window my first few flights. For me to see it I have to alt-tab to desktop and then click the PE window and it brings it up. I make the changes I need to change and then alt-tab back into the P3D client.

Re: AI Traffic Visibility
I appreciate the reply. I'll figure out how to turn it off, or I'll keep it on and pay more attention to other traffic, probably not a bad thing.
