Re: Question
Thanks Peter, as always educational and you clear up two mysteries in one post. Appreciate it as always.
Re: Question
I have to disagree with that one. At 99.9% of Class D airports, even if there is a published CD freq, you would still request advisories with Ground. Keith, 100% agree with you, however PE seems to always refer you to CD if you call up on ground for flight following, I am talking about class D's by...
Re: Question
If you just asked for a departure to the west then they would most likely assumed no flight following which would be a call to ground only. If you said VFR to John Wayne then they would have most likely given you a sqwak and departure freq I would think. Class C and B airports are the only ones you ...

Re: New VA / Virtual Charter
Yeah I was watching that one and seemed to go away. I have had zero time but when I do I am going to go make some logical ( at least I hope they are) flights on the system in The PE area. Some for pistons and some for the big boys. We can see if anyone is interested at that point. An email I receive...

New VA / Virtual Charter
So I stumbled on this new VA completely by accident http://infinitecharters.net/ . I think they have a fairly interesting idea. You can make your own flight routes you want to fly. FSE and other VA limit your ability to fly in certain areas or routes that you want to fly or have time for in my case....

Re: Let's talk about the PilotEdge Expansion!
Perhaps we need to start the PilotEdge political action committee and start petitioning our local congressmen!! LOL!
Maybe the FAA is waiting on FAA reauthorization in which case we are in lots of trouble.

Re: V-03 Test Problems
Same ask and set of instructions given in real world by a DPE or a CFI would have also equaled a fail IMO, don't assume just go where you are supposed to go or ask before you start. This is a test of task saturation and situational awareness, if you land you are taking elements away. A good rule bef...

Re: KSMO-KSAN in lost comms?
Cell phones stop working for the most part starting at 2,000ft AGL and up. Not really a viable choice. Way too much going on up there to be dealing with dropped calls and google searches. IMO.

Re: Advise controller when commencing descent
My experience in the real world. In busy terminal areas Approch expects VRF Pilots with flight following to report altitude changes. Generally you will hear report altitude or corse changes or something to that effect. Once you leave the Approch areas and are handed off to center they seem far less ...

Re: ForeFlight FSX Integration for Training
For what it is worth. Getting the Stratus was the best $900 I have spent. If your like me and rent and do not have in cockpit ADSB weather and traffic (if the stars align or you have a plane with ADS-B out), this gives you a great way to have everything you need on the iPad. I cannot say it saved my...
