Re: GTN750/650 (and more) for XP10!!
Strange how one could even develops a 32bit first lol That's almost certainly because this product and others like it (Flight1 GTN) are basically just proxies to the official Garmin GTN Trainer software , which is a 32-bit application, so it was likely substantially easier to do the interprocess co...

Re: Question for Marcus on a DP
The one time I was cleared CATH1.PSP TRM I simply requested "direct TRM" after crossing PSP the first time and was given it, taking me off the departure and avoiding doing a figure 8 over palm springs.

Re: IFR Clearance Question
I recall Peter mentioning on a live stream that they reconciled some PE frequencies with the charts for exactly this purpose. If no F is given (lulz, made myself laugh) get it from the chart.

Re: First flight - some beginner questions
I did my first two flights yesterday Welcome! When do I turn the transponder on? Before contacting ground or only once I got taxi? I agree with RyanK (and the FAA) just turn your transponder on as soon as practicable regardless of if the airport has ground radar or not, it doesn't hurt anything and...

Re: X-Plane 10 scenery - stock vs HD mesh with g2xpl texture
zengei, agreed. My point in using that was to show the origin of the term. I agree that 'dead reckoning' is more frequently used. However, the original point was that pilotage was the correct term :) Aye, pilotage is definitely the correct term, but I also wanted to point out that that origin for &...

Re: IFR Aircraft Advice
My advice: the slower one (which I guess is the C182 in this situation). Things can happen real fast and if you're not ready (especially if you're learning) you'll wish for those few extra moments even a 10-, 20-, 30-knot slower plane will give you to catch up.

Re: X-Plane 10 scenery - stock vs HD mesh with g2xpl texture
not sure I was entirely too comfortable with the notion of flying a procedure that included me being dead. To be fair, dead reckoning is by far the more commonly used term compared to ded reckoning (also see Google Books's n-gram viewer comparison ). The Straight Dope has a good discussion on the e...

Re: aerobatics...?
You're allowed to perform aerobatics wherever it's not explicitly prohibited. FAR §91.303 contains the relevant regulations. EDIT: Also an an implicit restriction is at an altitude below 18,000 MSL since above that is Class A airspace which requires an IFR clearance and I don't think controllers are...
