RW IFR rating subforum

Just curious... Has the idea of a real world IFR training subforum here ever been considered? Just a thought. If there was, it could steer a lot of RW non-sim pilots here. I'm about to begin mine in January, and will be using PE quite a bit to learn as much as possible when the money meter isn't spi...

Re: An Observation: Big learning curve between I4 and I5

Right there with ya... I've decided to do it in the Barron myself. I'll fly dehydrated, as my wife frowns on my Gatoraide bottle urinal method! Seriously though, it's not that bad. I flew from Vegas to SEE real world in a 100 knot SportCruiser, and that included a jaunt over the Hoover dam. (Why wer...

San Diego Coastal flight\bay transition!

I fly RW out of Gillespie (KSEE). As you know from flying on PE, it’s a great place to fly, but the airspace is complex due to the two Bravos. One of my favorite flights is to fly south along the coast, and over the San Diego bay. You need Bravo clearance, and clearance in to North Island Naval Air ...

I4 exam practice and questions.

Hello all... About to start prepping for the I4 and had a couple questions. There is obviously no transcript for a random assignment, and you have to plan it, which is the point I'm sure. That said, I'm not up on GPS or VOR approaches yet. It said that a visual approach is assigned. I take that to m...

Re: First experiences

As a real world pilot who flies socal... I didn't practice the SIM enough! I was screwing up right and left because things that seemed easier in the airplane was clumsy in the sim. Twisting the knobs on the 430 was a chore until I got used to the clicking or the mouse wheel. I feel that flying the f...

Re: I 1-11 Marathon

That's OUTSTANDING! I agree about the PE learning curve... Did you find that fatigue was hurting your flying any towards the end? I did four sightseeing flights over San Diego bay one day (a popular thing for out of town groups). I don't remember falling asleep on my couch afterward. It can really t...

Chinook...

Might be off topic, but for all you fans of the Heli, Got a flight in a CH-47 Shinook last week... I have a new found respect for the ungainly aircraft! 60 degree banks didn't agree with some of the soldiers... Three puked. They practice some evasive landing techniques because of the RPG threat. I T...

Re: Never again on PE - share your mistakes

Wow... Didn't expect an analysis, but I sure appreciate it! I'll chase down the recording tonight and pick the flight apart, and figure out what I did wrong. Never would have thought of doing that. The Blue Angels have a debrief ritual where they confess your sins specifically, pledge to improve, an...

Re: Never again on PE - share your mistakes

Good morning virtual aviators, Well, I had a frustrating evening of flying on PilotEdge. First off, please don’t think I’m complaining or putting the controllers on blast here for what MIGHT have been a deviation from the norm. I’ve had days like this in an actual cockpit while I learned VFR flight ...
