Re: Never again on PE - share your mistakes
Okay... Mea Culpa time. I keep my sim running for extended periods. It's a dedicated sim. I had connected to the network, got called away... Then hopped in to fly. Not on the network, just tinkering with some settings. Took off from KSEE, and saw some traffic. I thought, "What's he doing up her...

Re: Runway Closures
This will build good habits.
It was a little trap on my instrument check ride... The runways at the destination were closed after 1300, if I remember correctly.
Notams are our friend.

Re: Started Real World IFR training this weekend...
Hello all... So I finally earned my instrument rating. It's been a while since I've posted here, so what I'm about to write here is a bit of a cautionary tale, and a guide to how I should have done it. First, some describe me as the busiest person they know. I’m a Manager of Network Engineering, a s...

New regulations regarding instrument approach currency
Hi gang! My flying club just posted this... It seems like the wave of common sense at the FAA continues! In short, new final rulings. Pilots that use approved ATDs (sims) to fly their approaches no longer need to have an instructor present. And the time is increased to six months, if I haven't read ...

Re: Automated Radio Check
This would be a great feature. In RW as well! It's actually a realistic problem. Troubleshooting radio quality issues requires transmitting to ATC in real world flying, and they describe how you sound, or give you 'loud and clear' or 'five by five'. But I see how it could be a value add to the clien...

Re: Thoughts on flight plan for Check Ride flight...
Thanks for the great tips guys! I think I will subscribe to the series. The RW IFR series has been awesome, and I've played through the Ground vids a couple times each, along with the great series on Youtube. I realized that I haven't actually flown THAT much on PE, with all the RW flying at time in...

Thoughts on flight plan for Check Ride flight...
Hi! Well... In six days (weather permitting), I'll be on my instrument checkride! I've been assigned a flight to plan. From Ramona (I'll be flying the Cherokee from SEE for the ride) to KSMX. I am hoping that you guys would comment on concerns with this flight plan, so that I can bring up risk manag...

Re: Started Real World IFR training this weekend...
Okay... Good news bad news... My checkride is FINALLY scheduled! June 12th. The DOWN side is that I couldn't get it scheduled before I take off for Hawaii... (Gotta keep my girl happy!) So I will have a ten day 'Break' to let rust build up, then six days to cram in flying and study for the oral exam...

Re: Started Real World IFR training this weekend...
Well, time for an update I guess! Flew four times last week... Decided a little concentrated flight time would get me back on track. I've now got about seven hours to go before 40... I'm loving the GTN 650 from Reality XP and the one in the Archers I fly RW. It helps a TON. I still have good approac...

Used PE in an assignment...
If you are REALLY bored... I had to do a 'Current Events' post in my Management of Information Systems course. Talk about some new tech that gives a business competitive advantage. I used PE and touch trainers... Who knows. Someone in class might actually read it and go online. It is Embry Riddle, a...
