Re: My new Archer in Portugal. How to get it home?

Hey Nelson, those are great photos! I have an Eclipse too, but I am not as handy as you and didn't want to try attaching it to the Wheel Stand Pro. So I caved and bought a Saitek yoke. I actually like it quite a bit! I had read that its null zone might be kind of large, and indeed it is a larger nul...

Re: My new Archer in Portugal. How to get it home?

Landed in Newark at about 10 frames per second. With framerates like that, trips take twice as long! I may have to turn down some graphics settings for the east coast run. Today I'm on to Wilmington and, perhaps, the South. Tomorrow I'll be focusing more on PE, as I hope to participate in the "...

Re: My new Archer in Portugal. How to get it home?

I'm now in Boston, hoping to fly on to Newark tonight. Also, I have a new Saitek yoke and Wheel Stand Pro, which holds the yoke for me, leaving my desk clear. Yay! Can't wait to try it.

I'm so glad I decided to fly the aircraft rather than crate & ship it. This has been fun. :)

Re: Weather Questions

I hope it helps. Let me know if you have trouble getting it to run properly. I just tested it, and you can indeed set it so that you'll always have IFR conditions of your choosing. There are two fields at the bottom of the "configuration" UI of the plugin. One provides for max visibility i...

Re: X-Plane Scenery Gateway

Ah, okay. Actually, as I look again, my problem may be the opposite: X-Plane draws one of the roads near Grand Canyon West, but not all of them. I may have to add the service roads east of the field myself. I recall having lots of trouble doing that sort of thing with Laramie; I recall experimenting...

Re: Weather Questions

The NOAA Weather plugin provides some of this functionality, I think. It uses real-time NOAA weather, and it seems to update my weather 3 times an hour or so. (I certainly don't have any problem with weather improving rapidly; if anything, bad weather is annoyingly persistent!) Anyway, you can unche...

Re: X-Plane Scenery Gateway

Hmm, so I'm guessing I used just one giant exclusion zone for KLAR (Laramie), which worked okay as it's not smack in the middle of a city or anything. But it sounds a better practice is lots of smaller exclusion zones, even for lego airports. I notice there are a couple roads next to my little Grand...

Re: My new Archer in Portugal. How to get it home?

I didn't even think of Vatsim! But now that I'm using Pilot Edge, Vatsim doesn't interest me as much.

I hope to make more progress down the East Coast of the US tonight!

Re: X-Plane Scenery Gateway

Fair enough. Why does KSNA have so many small exclusion zones instead of one giant one? My guess is to make a more "granular" exclusion area that more closely follows the shape of the airport.

Re: My new Archer in Portugal. How to get it home?

Success! I had no trouble making the Greenland-to-Canada run, from BGBW to CYCA. Riding at 11,500 feet with very lean mixture, I made the 580-nm journey with plenty of fuel to spare. In fact, I slightly overshot Carthwright airport, as it took me longer than I expected to descend. I thought about he...
