Re: [Jul 21-25] SimVenture 2020
Thank you Pilotedge! I approached this event with trepidation, as I feared I would mess up. Luckily it all went smoothly and I landed on 36R without incurring in the ire of the controller! The controllers were simply amazing and being surrounded by traffic was really an exhilarating experience. Well...
I did it!
Finally, after many weeks of bad weather, I got a chance to do a discovery flight from KFRG! Beautiful day, busy sky, including a blimp there for the PGA tournament at Bethpage. You can watch the video of the whole flight, from my POV, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=143&v=euhYu...

What's the matter with Texas?
I have noticed that there are often several planes connected to PE flying over Texas. Their radios are sometimes connected to frequencies for airports in that area. My understanding is that Texas is not part of the PE ATC-coverage, so I was wondering what they are doing there. Just curiosity, of cou...

IFR departure questions
I have two questions that came up during a flight from KSBA to KOXR. I know I probably should have asked the controller, but his hands were quite full and didn't want to add confusion. 1) At clearance I was instructed to fly RWY heading up to 500 and then right turn to 120. But tower, when clearing ...

Re: About to try my first GA flight IRL
Thanks Keith (and thanks for giving us PE). In the sim I have been flying 80% GA and 20% Airliners (Boeing 738, almost exclusively). On PE I almost always fly single props (Arrow, Archer, Skylane, Skyhawk) and I have taken all the CAT- and I- ratings in these planes. Of course I am under no illusion...

About to try my first GA flight IRL
My wife gave me a 1 hour discovery flight gift (with AoA, Republic airport, KFRG). It will be in a C172 G1000 plane in mid April. I have been on pilotedge since 2016 (I think) and I have been flight simming for longer than that, but I have never been in a GA plane IRL. I am not sure sure what to exp...

Re: Problem with 122.2
Yes, I had “NEWRM” in the remark. As I said, I could hear people on GUARD (121.5), but no controllers, even once in the air. As for 118.2, I tried that because it is the departure frequency listed on the WATTR7 departure plate. I didn’t know it was a military rapcon, actually, I just learned what a ...

Problem with 122.2
I love the line of sight communication update, but I had a hard time getting it to work. I was on the ground at KCLM and I tried to contact Center on 122.2 to get clearance to KFHR for a long time without any response. Guard (121.5) was working fine, and I could hear myself on 123.45. I also tried 1...

Re: Altitude restriction arrival
I ended up asking the controller, who canceled the altitude restriction at CROWI. I am always amazed at how good ATC is in PE...
