When flying an unfamiliar route, I think it's very important to have a chart at hand to have a look at where you're going relative to your departure airport, and also have some sense of what airspace is around you. Clearances can get garbled and miscopied -- and even read-backs don't always uncover...

yes I did. the problems seemed to start when I installed the mod terrain cfg file. but even after removing that, still had the issues of no shorelines, water

I installed with megascenary x (socal). Maybe that's why I was having issues?

I installed and I followed all the instructions, including getting the new terrain.cfg file. However now I find that instead of oceans I have land mass stretching for infinity

update: so i uninstalled the client. restarted windows, reinstalled PE. This time I could actually start, connect, and start flying. about 10-15mins in however, PE crashed again. I just installed megascenary X (socal), and now, everytime I try to start the PE client, it just crashes when I try to connect
