Re: SBP active runway

Thank you for the explanation Peter. Based on traffic the controllers usually are able to accommodate, was just curious but get how this could be tough to implement for each airport.

SBP active runway

I’ve noticed that at SBP 29 is used during IFR conditions while flow would switch to 11 real world. Right now there is an 800 foot ceiling with winds variable with RW traffic using the ILS 11 while Pilotedge ATIS has 29 RNAV as the arrival. At what level ceiling does Pilotedge switch to the ILS 11 f...

Re: GNS 430/530 navdata

Appreciate the input Keith. Agreed that having an accurate database is more important than every feature working, I just want to make sure some of the more basic stuff like vertical guidance on LP approaches works (at least the ones that have them), as I see in the forums that that used to be an iss...

Re: GNS 430/530 navdata

I've hit a bit of a roadblock with the RealityXP GNS. The lack of ability to update the navdata has basically made it unusable for me. I was using a 2017 worldwide.bin file that was working great, but my home airport (KSBP) recently changed the RNAV approach by adding a new fix and changing course h...

Re: DME Required?

So based on that, my interpretation would be as long as the DME position is in your GPS database and your alternate doesn't require DME for the approach, you can use GPS in-lieu of DME. Zach - If the aircraft I was flying had DME, then I would definitely tune it in, but DME receivers are getting mor...

DME Required?

Was doing approaches today for my IFR currency with an instructor and while looking at the VOR RWY 19 into PRB (attached) she asked me if a DME was required. I said no, an IFR approved GPS can be used in lieu of an actual DME unit. She responded that that was what she thought as well up until a few ...

Re: Arrow masquerading as a Debonair, calling itself a Bonan

I fly an Arrow in real world and the A2A Comanche online because it's the most realistic and has similar speeds for my IFR practice. I just login as an Arrow with my r/w callsign to keep things simple. It's about 10 knots faster than an Arrow but nobody seems to notice. A2A is coming out with a V35B...

Re: some nice feedback...

Been on PilotEdge a little over a year. I had recently moved from Colorado to the California central coast and my first IPC out here was a little rough to say it nicely. I got my instrument ticket back in Colorado, where there really is no such thing as non-icing IMC except for a few days a year. Ne...

Vectored but not cleared for approach

Think I found my answer in the AIM (5-4-3 Approach Control), but just wanted to double check on here. Was doing an IPC yesterday with an instructor I don't usually fly with. He was playing ATC and gave me the instruction, "Turn heading XXX, vectors for the ILS." So I turned to that heading...
