Re: When to request an approach?
Hi 4MR, It is a bit tricky especially in Socal knowing who to make the approach request with. If you were flying to SBA it would be more obvious that when you are handed off to SBA approach to make your request. In Socal you are basically with them from departure to arrival so its a bit of a judgeme...

Re: CAT 1 Question
That sounds alright. Just be careful with the SBP Delta and you'll be good to go!
Good luck on the CAT programme!

Re: CAT 1 Question
Hey Lucky, According to the AIM, the standard way of departing the pattern is on a straight-out or a 45-degree departure (yet this is not mandatory). It is usually recommended that if you are going to make a non-standard turn (i.e. turn in the opposite direction to the traffic pattern) you wait unti...

IFR Clearance Altitude vs ODP Altitude
Hi there, I was flying to day IFR out of IZA and got cleared as filed with an initial altitude to maintain of 5000. Cleared via/as filed and airspace
Hi, I had a question regarding clearances as filed/via and surrounding airspace. Once you hear "cleared via" does that mean that you can go through any airspace to get to your next waypoint? So for instance, departing REI you get: Cleared via PDZ ...., does that effectively give you permis...
Re: Callsigns
Hola Andres! Also from Spain here! Welcome to PE! The way flight schools use sort of 'airline callsigns' in Spain is somewhat strange and I have not seen it in other parts of the world. In the US you most normally use the aircraft's registration as your callsign. You can drop the N and substitute fo...
