Re: Approach plate question

Keith,

You are simply amazing! Not only did you handle ALL of my ATC tonight from KKNB to KLGB (clearance, center, approach and tower),you also found time somehow to answer my question.

Thanks for great ATC tonight and for answering my question!

Approach plate question

Just had a question about the RNAV approach plate of KKNAB below. Is the holding pattern depicted mandatory? Or if I arrive directly to DEDKE already at 8200' am I clear to proceed with the approach? I have seen other such approaches with similar holds, I never know if I need to complete the pattern...

Re: Call final controlled airport

Thanks Rod,

I guess I need to take some time and actually read the AIM. While the Pilotedge ratings are a great way to get started, there are a bunch of little questions that I am still unsure about. I bet the AIm would clear up a bunch of the questions.

Thanks
Ken

Re: Call final controlled airport

If I could ask a follow-up question on this regarding a go around for a visual approach. Sorry if this seems basic, but if you are cleared visual approach what is the "Go-Around" procedure? When doing an IFR approach it is very clearly spelled out on the plate. However, there are no plates...

Re: ONT09 TEC Route questions.

Thanks for the replies. That's what I thought but wanted to make sure considering the conflicting info on Foreflight.

Re: Question on KOTH ILS 4 Approach

OK, that is a big help. Only question is , how did you determine that the 181 heading was one minute before turning to 001? Its a standard rate turn, same as the holding pattern. You could do more or less if you want (I think). The main objective is to get you turned around to intercept the localie...

Re: Question on KOTH ILS 4 Approach

There are a couple ways to fly this approach. You can use the north or south DME ARC as well. While I am a little new at this myself, the way I read it is as follows... Fly heading 244 @3000ft out of OTH. ( not seeing anything on the chart that mentions 5400ft) Then fly back course on the 226 I-OTH ...

Questions regarding VFR and contacting approach

Hi, Ok, so I have completed all of my CAT ratings and have just about completed the I ratings. However, I still have a couple questions regarding flying VFR. In a lot of ways flying IFR seems easier as there is a preplanned route, ATC instructions, and handoff to the next in route controller etc. My...
