Re: Tour of the LA Basin.
Thanks for the advice guys. Looking at it a little more, I think I may change to full stop landings. It’ll break things up a little more and give the controller a rest from me, especially on the shorter legs. It probably means the whole trip will take a bit longer, so I might have to break it up int...

Re: Combination of sceneries for P3Dv4
Nice shots. I've recently settled on a Socal scenery combination myself. I use MegaSenery Socal v3 with the older Ultra Res LA & San Diego on top. Underneath (importantly) both of these is Aerosoft US Cities X Los Angeles. This allows the 5000 odd custom buildings from this package to show, whil...

Tour of the LA Basin.
Hi. I’ve just completed my Cat 11, and was looking for the next thing to do on PE. I’m really enjoying my MegaScenery Ultra Res LA, so thought I do a tour of the basin so to speak. The idea being that I’d do a touch’n’go at each field. Departing TOA and heading north, I came up with the following ro...

Re: Departing a Class D
Thanks Rod, appreciate the quick reply. I'm always a little hesitant turning against the pattern at low altitude unless I'm sure its allowed, so that's good to know.

Departing a Class D
Hi everyone. I have a question about departing Class D airports. Whilst I’m familiar with Australian procedures, I’m not sure if FAA is different. I understand that at uncontrolled airports, it is recommended to depart upwind, or on a 45 degree crosswind. I’ve read the AIM but couldn’t find any spec...

Re: Best L.A. & San Diego Scenery?
Thanks Bruce, that helps a lot. I've just downloaded MSE v3.0 SOCAL, with a 30 day return so I'll give it a try. As for the two MegaScenery titles you mentioned, I wasn't sure which was the higher quality product. They both seem to cover a similar area (LA & SAN TAC effectivly), but I assume the...

Re: Pilot Introductions
Hi everyone. My name is Michael. I've been using flight sim since v5.1. and whilst I've never used any online ATC, I've been on and off FSEconomy since 2008. That's where I first heard about PE. I'm also a RW airline pilot currently flying a 777 out of Hong Kong. Before that I spent almost 10 years ...

Best L.A. & San Diego Scenery?
Hi everyone. I’ll be doing some real world flying later in the year, and I’d like to know peoples opinion on what is the best scenery for becoming familiar with VFR in the L.A. basin and down to San Diego. Seems to be between Orbx and Megascenery. I’m aware of the differences between the two, but cu...
