In my experience, at least two male PE controllers already have some level of "radio-ish" sound in their transmissions.
The lady one has a very live, in-your-face high quality voice (no pun intended) but I can live with that

I have been flight simming single player too since the late 80's but nothing could have prepared me when i joined the bandwagon with live ATC.
I guess we all have our share of screwing up when we first join PE but it is worth it if you want to learn
