Re: Is owning FBOs worth it?

Henrik We all need something to do with our v$$. Buying airplanes is one of them. That's the usual first step in the FSE game. Some lease an aircraft first. Then buy one. Trouble I personally found is that it is easy to change interest. I love the C182. Fly it a lot. Then I get an interest in the TB...

Re: Is owning FBOs worth it?

FBOs can make you feel tied down to a certain area or route. Like Keith said, I wouldn't rush it. Figure out what you enjoy and focus on that. If an FBO pops up for sale within the operations area you enjoy then it might make sense. Don't buy and FBO and figure out operations later.

Re: Class D airport in class E airspace

Another way is to use a VOR and DME to know your distance. Example. On my planned course, when I am 25 nm from XYZ. VOR then I should be 12 nm from my destination. Confirm that with visual indicators and you should have a pretty accurate location.

Re: voice error NonConnected (1794) disconnect

Hi I've gotten this same error a few times recently. I can correct it by reconnecting to the network - easy peasy. However, there's no warning it has happened so until I can't contact ATC don't know it happened. My question is: Do we know what causes this? Is there something I can tweak on my end, o...

Re: Entering a pattern

It may have been right. Point is I lost awareness as to how to enter that from where I was. Any tips or tricks for quickly figuring it out, or is it all pretty natural?

Entering a pattern

I completed CAT 8 today but was really unhappy with myself for the pattern entry. I was given instructions to enter Left base RWY 15 for KBUR (I think L base). I was coming in on a heading of essentially 090. Very quickly I got mixed up in how to enter Left base for rwy 15 and in the end, the contro...

Re: Blew the CAT 5

I had an experience recently which may lend to the learning here. I was flying KCMA to KCNO through the fly ways above LA. Flight following. I was 4 miles out from KCNO and into the Delta when I asked, "Socal approach, Skylane 109MS request permission to go to Chino tower." He then told me...

Excellent workshops

Hi Keith & the team I wanted to say how beneficial and educational the free workshops have been. I recently flew E16 to O09, which is right through Oakland Bravo. Based on what I learned in the workshops, I had confidence to go under the Bravo without diverting my course, through the MOA and to ...
