Re: Recognizing Ken's contribution

+1 on the Ken Appreciation Society.

Am using it for TEC routes during the I-Ratings. The download of .fms files is working perfectly in my Panthera and getting me in the air quicker.

Thanks for the great work.

Re: Flight Planning: KFUL - KTOA

I had a quick look. Working my way through the CAT ratings so by no means an expert. You can stay below the Bravo as you say. For the Deltas, if you depart Fullerton west you can turn slightly to the right to avoid Los Alamitos. I think you then have 2 choices: you can fly above Long Beach above 260...

Two useful things for VR

I am currently working through the CAT ratings, doing everything in VR. It mostly works very well, especially with Avitab with the Navigraph linkage for charts etc. Sorry if this has come up before but didn't see it in the search. There are two things that I have found are helpful for making VR flig...

Re: Aircraft type for CAT and I ratings

Thanks. I'll give that a miss then. For me the X-plane 430/430 and Garmin 1000 are enough for me and I'd rather have the recent data than perfect control over the data fields. Also really enjoying the Dynon and 750/650 in the Aerobask planes now that the touchscreens work in VR.

Re: Aircraft type for CAT and I ratings

Good to know about RealityXP. Will look into it. Does that play nicely with Navigraph and updated data etc if it uses the Garmin Trainer Software? I tried the trainer software outside of X-Plane a while back and it was way out of date without an obvious way to update it. Entirely possible that I did...

Re: Aircraft type for CAT and I ratings

Quick question for Keith - in your cross-country videos you said that you are a fan of using the cross-track error on the GPS for high-precision flying e.g. knowing your exact deviation in feet from a localiser rather than using the needle. On the Laminar 530 it doesn't look you can customise the pa...

Re: Learning to fly IFR

Agree with what's been said. I have spent many hours watching Keith's workshops (people wondered why I would spend a long train journey staring at the same Skyvector chart for an hour at a time) and that was the first time everything became fully clear. I'd built up knowledge by myself since flying ...
