FSX Pilots: MegaSceneryX SoCal now on sale until 4/13
A heads-up to FSX pilots - PC Aviator is offering a great deal right now through 4/13 on "MegaSceneryX: Southern California," which is photo-realistic scenery that covers almost the entire ZLA/PilotEdge operating area. This title is normally US $39.95 but they are offering it for US $19.97...

I was thinking that as well - a sarcastic statement about Microsoft's re-emergence into the flight sim market with their new "Flight" product.Ryan Landis wrote:Sounds like Flight.

Re: [real world] "where in God's name are you going?"
The minor quibble I have with this is that the controller used the excuse, "when aircraft are departing runway 6 why would I send you directly into them" or some such words, he assumed the pilots also had the big picture of the airspace. In my experience the only picture pilots have beside...

Re: Varying volume of controllers' communications?
The voice technology that we use is self-adjusting. It normalizes the volume based on what it's heard over the past few seconds. Controllers who are fairly quiet, therefore, will often start out very quiet and will magically become a little louder after a few seconds, if the transmission is long en...

Varying volume of controllers' communications?
Have any other pilots had issues with varying volume of the ATC communications? I have had two different flights so far where one controller will come through loud and clear, while a separate controller will come through barely audible and quite difficult to hear. It doesn't appear to be an issue at...

Re: Icing on Carenado Bonanza F33A for X-Plane
Peter, I thought windshield icing was modeled in X-Plane. I've had numerous occurrences of windshield "fogging" due to snow or freezing rain, usually followed by icing of control surfaces. By turning on the window heat, the wind screen clears up. Ah, my fault - I was using my old version ...

Re: Icing on Carenado Bonanza F33A for X-Plane
There is another knob called DEFROST PULL-ON but is is not moving. Apologies if someone else answered this part and I missed it, but in case not: The defrost knob in a Bonanza is just like that of the front windshield defrost feature in your car - pulling this knob simply opens the heated air ducts...

Re: VFR Flight Records
I also noticed none of my VFR flights were saved as part of my history (brief history, that is). I am not filing a VFR flight plan but one of my flights had flight following, which suggested I should have been in the system. It would be nice to have all flights on PE become part of my history, not j...

Re: When is localizer freq reverse sensing?
Yes, if you were flying outbound (northeast) opposite the approach then you will experience reverse sensing. What aircraft are you using and does it have an HSI or glass cockpit instead of a traditional heading indicator/ILS indicator? I would expect that perhaps 99.9% of the time in the real world ...

Re: r/w visit to JFK
Very, very cool. Thanks for posting your experience and pictures.
What did you have to do to fly into JFK? Did you fly in IFR? My understanding is that there are only a limited number of IFR slots during the day and those have to be reserved ahead of time?
