Re: GNS530 turning point too early

when the aircarft gets to the turning point it turns to sharp If you're using P3D or FSX, look at the aircraft.cfg file for your particular plane. Check the [autopilot] section and look for the "max_bank" parameter. If set too high, the autopilot will give more than a standard-rate turn a...

Re: Scenery KSNA from LatinVFR

Yeah... I have both SNA and SAN from LatinVFR. Wish that didn't happen, but it does on both sets of scenery. I don't think it's limited to that developer though... I've seen similar effects in other places.I figure that one day, either Lockheed-Martin or the developers will figure it out.

Re: Remote control tower - interesting

This is already being done in Sweden. http://www.saabgroup.com/Civil-security/Air-Transportation-and-Airport-Security/Air-Traffic-Management-Solutions/Remote_Tower/ As a certificated pilot, I don't care for the concept, since there are no actual eyes *at* the airport. As an FAA radar technician, I c...

Olive Branch (MS) Tower teams up with FAAST to put on an annual safety topic / Q&A session. Works great here, and there's always a huge turnout! Give your local FAAST rep a call!

Re: New pilot, question: pausing

Nope! And frankly, I couldn't imagine even trying to use one of those things! Been flying since 1987, and that situation never came up!

Re: New pilot, question: pausing

On a related note: what do real pilots use for a lavatory in general aviation aircraft, anyway? Carry a portable head? Yeah... there are various commercial solutions for that. http://www.sportys.com/pilotshop/safety-and-survival/other.html But, in real life I simply plan stops that are within the b...

Re: The bag in the pax seat

When I fly my Cherokee 180 solo, my flight bag is on the right seat with the seat belt running through a handle, so it won't relocate in unexpected turbulence. When I fly with my non-pilot family, I wish there were no rudder pedals for the right seat... And, no yoke. That would also help the rear pa...

Re: Worst FSE pilot ever! Share the shame?

Now the question is. Have you ever ran out of fuel in flight? Have you glided it in for an emergency landing? Only to find out the airport you landed at doesn't sell fuel. Done that twice too. Happy Flying Rodney Sadly... yes! Was on a flight from somewhere in Arkansas to KMEM. About 20 miles short...

Re: Sometimes it just all goes right

Thanks for that great write-up, Keith! I've been to Spruce Creek a few times, and it is a wonderful place! Here's a ForeFlight tip for offsets from map points... You can put "KDED/090/4" into the search box, and it will mark the point for you. But, even better though, you can use that same...

Re: What are Offsets?

Keith,

Could there be consideration to modifying the PE software to default to squawking C (normal) when the client starts, thereby making the process transparent to us?
