Re: "Restricted" airports
I've flown cherokees into KLAS twice. Piece of cake. I've also flown into KSAN and KPHX (not in the PE coverage area but I just wanted to brag). I don't think I would attempt flight into KLAX or KSFO, though. They're just way too busy (and KLAX doesn't even sell Avgas, in case you needed any hints t...

Re: SFRA Success without killing anyone!
You can extend downwind to lose your altitude. You can also request a right-hand pattern which gives you a midfield crossing plus a downwind in which to lose altitude. I've done both in the real world (though usually I take the mini route so I'm at a more reasonable 2500')

Re: Client Ident vs. VC Ident button FSX
I don't think I've ever been asked to ident by a PE controller. Is this because they can tell I'm on FSX and it wouldn't have any effect?Keith Smith wrote:All this is moot, however, until I implement IDENT properly in the FSX pilot client. It's been a long-standing issue.

Re: ksan ils loc rw09
The data in FSX is wrong. As best I can tell from discussions about this problem on other forums, the real-world frequency was changed about 3 years ago. FSX hasn't been updated in almost 10 years, so in their world the ILS is still on the old freq. You can fix this by updating your scenery files--e...

Re: KRAL KSNA question
When flying from KSMO to KBUR I always contact Burbank tower directly. Once I tried to do the "right thing" and call So Cal first, and they just waved me off and told me to contact tower.

Re: new fixed added at V64 V363 intersection
A lot of people are flying with out-of-date navigation data in their sim GPS, so it might create a whole new teachable moment.

Re: Upcoming workshops?
Ah, got it. Now that I think about it, I say; "climbing through 2000 for 6000" as I doubt anyone will think I'm climbing to 46,000 in the GA planes I fly. And even if you were in a fancy jet, you would say "for flight level four six zero". I think I see now why the AIM has no pr...

Re: Upcoming workshops?
Good idea! Good basic procedure helps when things get a bit more complex. Pet niggles.... "with you" "climbing 2 6000" umm was that 6000 or 26,000? from a not so perfect procedure man, but one who tries ;) Strangely enough, the AIM recommends the "climbing to"/&q...

Re: Question about route filing
The PEEER1 departure is an RNAV procedure; in other words, it requires GPS or some other form of a R ea NAV igation. When you load the procedure on your GPS, the first waypoint will be PEEER with a DTK of 255º. That means your GPS will act as if PEEER is a VOR and you're tuned to the 255º radial. Kn...
