Getting comms to work on Dreamfoil 407 in XP

I'm not able to get comms to work in the Dreamfoil Bell 407. I have no trouble in any other aircraft I've tried. The breakers are all in. I can set and change COM1 frequencies. I have checked that COM1 on the audio panel is selected (and only it and Marker are selected by default). No go. I can't se...

Re: some services are offline because of Sandy

Something was fishy yesterday. A group of us tried to connect multiple times. Most of us were able to connect for a few minutes, then the program crashed. The issue was always a crash of the program, for all of us, which we assumed to be related to connection problems, but perhaps there was somethin...

Re: Another Approach / Tower question

I agree completely with the idea of always asking when unsure. I don't think you're interpreting the regs correctly, Jtek, as I think some more searching will support, but I also agree that it is good practice to be in touch with the tower early when planning to land at a given airport, and to be on...

Re: Another Approach / Tower question

91.129 (c) is just the class D version of the reg I cited. Approach control is the appropriate ATC so you contacted ATC before entering the airspace. You just need to maintain contact through the airspace. If you enter Class D or C while VFR and while receiving flight following, you have established...

Re: Another Approach / Tower question

Actually, I'm pretty sure that flight following coordinates transition of all airspace except Class B, which requires a specific clearance to enter. Flight following can't and won't issue landing clearance, of course, but you don't have to leave the flight following frequency and contact tower to en...

Re: Another Approach / Tower question

All are fine I believe. As I was about 8 miles out, I let Vegas Approach know I had HND in sight. That triggered his instruction to switch to HND tower. I was carefully staying under the bravo shelf, which wasn't easy with terrain there, so I wasn't getting direct control from Approach at the time. ...

That was a blast. Flew from LAX to HND. Seemed to be fairly crowded skies, although flight following was pretty quiet for me (down around 7500).

I sure enjoy this service. So glad I finally took the plunge.

Distance is good. I suggested SNA or LGB to stay out of the way of the big boys.

Yeah, that seems like the thing to do. I'm happy to fly the same route with you, Bruce.

I'm happy to start at Long Beach or John Wayne if that would be better than starting at LAX.
