Re: Live ATIS??
What Tim said. Also, as in the real world, if you are too far out to pick up an ATIS but want weather information for an airport, you can always ask the controller and if they have time they can look it up and read it to you.

Re: Filed IFR altitude
Adding my .02 also. As a controller, if I see something that needs to be done, and I can do it now, I will, so I don't have to do it later. Meaning if I see you need 8k later, and I can clear you to it now, I will so I don't forget or if I get busy I don't have to worry about it. As Keith said, if y...

Re: Some Feedback + Weather?
Hey, thanks for the feedback! Keith can offer a more official word, but I'll chime in real quick. Your suggestion of putting something in as a remark is the best solution I can think of. As controllers it generally isn't an issue if you have different weather, we can accommodate pretty much any appr...

Re: Your IFR planning workflow?
As I mentioned, I usually call a briefer for my NOTAM/TFR/Official weather info for a lot of the reasons you just mentioned Keith. I used to use DUATS, however I fell into the trap of complacency you mentioned and just scroll through all that information because it's so indigestible. I use aviationw...

Re: Your IFR planning workflow?
I am one of those that does it differently for the sim versus real life. I know this isn't taking maximum advantage of the sim and maybe negatively impacting my real life flying but I can't motivate myself to do full-on planning for a little hop around the virtual sky. For PE I usually check the wea...

Re: request feedback on proposed feature
This is an awesome idea Keith, I love this both from the pilots perspective and the controller side for the reasons that have been mentioned. Beyond being able to tailor feedback, it will also be extremely helpful to have a good idea what level of proficiency to expect from pilots as well when tryin...

Re: Tiny black dot in X-Plane cockpit
I love this plane, it's my go-to light GA a/c in x-plane, the only downside is I can't read the altimeter setting on the altimeter, but other than that it's wonderful. Anyone know if there's an easy way to read that gauge? Maybe I'll just swap in the default altimeter in the panel myself...

Re: Altitudes and barometer settings
How far off is the altitude you get when setting to the controllers altimeter setting? The weather controllers have to report (METARs) can be up to an hour old, and can vary accordingly (however, I think xplane gets the same out-dated weather so this shouldn't actually be an issue?).

Re: Working on gear and controls
I'm not sure planes being in the ground is really what Keith meant here. He meant that sometimes the models don't accurately display whether the gear is up or down. To solve the problem with planes appearing in the ground, try this from the installation tutorial. 1. Set X-Plane Rendering options to ...
