Re: System wide upgrade, June 10, 2014

Questions that have arrisen from some friends:

-Will the aircraft list be updated to include newer model codes?
-Will the new navigational equipment suffixes be available to select?
-Will the "IDENT" feature work for everyone now?

Re: Burbank Class C - Brain Cramp

I turned him back out to about a 150 heading or so to avoid cutting through the surface area once I noticed it was going to be a problem with the departing BUR traffic, there was an initial eastbound turn though that was taking him directly into it and across the BUR departure corridor.

Re: Burbank Class C - Brain Cramp

Hey Lee, your track that you were flying definitely had you well north of what this planned route is showing, by about 2 miles or so directly into the surface area. I'm not sure, maybe a miscalculation in regards to when that eastbound turn was supposed to start? Problem was I had a jet off runway 1...

Re: Question about an ATC instruction

"Proceed direct" vs "Cleared direct"... If the controller had said "cleared direct SLI" without any further instructions - technically your clearance limit was just changed to the VOR so you'd need more information (holding instructions or something)... but otherwise in...

Re: Crossing runways (Ground vs Tower)

Peter Grey can probably fill you in on the details of Atlanta but from what I've seen and heard, ATL is definitely a Charlie Fox when it comes to the runway crossings. Places like O'Hare or something, it's normal to get taxi instructions like "exit left A1, join B westbound, expect more with gr...

Re: Joker

I just hosted a link to it (it's a zip file) via my personal dropbox: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16162462/joker.zip

Let me know if that works. I'm an avid user of the program for my ATC stuff as well.

Re: Strange radio communication -- to me anyway

John Wayne radar identifies VFR aircraft operating within the surface area off of the Long Beach ASR-9 radar site which is located about 10 miles NW of the field up near KSLI. They don't pick up targets in the air until they're through about 200-300 feet or so in the climb since the site is located ...

Happy Halloween!

Hope everyone had a great Halloween. My girlfriend and I carved a couple of pumpkins the other day that I figured I'd share... https://scontent-a-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn2/1452089_10100206387230528_1198147111_n.jpg We tried to keep it appropriately themed but the aviation "bug" gets th...

Re: FL 420 invalid?

Technically I suppose you "could" cruise at FL420 in consideration to the fact that there isn't anyone else operating at FL410 on a converging flight path that would "tie" with you at some point along route of flight... It's good practice for ATC to inform about the mistake and p...
