Re: recommended headset

I also use a cheap "one eared" USB headset. I save the A20's for the plane. If I used them at home, I'd never hear my wife calling me from downstairs. Oh wait a minute... Now I get it...! Maybe I should go get an adaptor. ;)

Re: Flying larger aircraft.

First of all, I love the CRJ. Keith's suggestion is spot on. I now fly most SIDS manually the NAV radios and VORs as KS described. I had a pretty rough go one morning on PE relying on the FMS. Although a little more whiskey in the coffee helped me on the second attempt with the SID. ;)

Re: dual pilot FDS 737 cockpit being flown on PE

Mike,

That is a great video! I joined PE and bought sim software to help my R/W instrument training a while back. I had no idea it would be this much fun. I'm hooked. I like flying the sim (on PE) almost as much as flying a real pane. Your project is amazing and impressive! Best of luck.

Re: XP10 CRJ-200 shots

That's EXACTLY what happened this morning. I used VORs the second time. Much better. It was pretty sloppy on the first go.

Re: XP10 CRJ-200 shots

I LOVE that plane, too bad I can't fly it worth a darn unless there's whiskey in my coffee!

Re: Citation N813CW

Todd,

The PE Canoe is always on alert especially on those dark nights. (Not that I'd ever admit being saved by it or anything...)

Re: Picking up IFR clearance after departing VFR

Hi Todd, The PE workshops are awesome and helped a lot during my instrument training! Just so you know, I got my private in May1995 and my Instrument in May this year (I took some time off from flying between 1995 and now).  However, I fly often and have used my new rating a lot in the past months. ...

Re: When to descend after approach clearance

Yep. After crossing MENLO (heading 331), you could descend as low as 3200 until tracking the localizer. After Localizer intercept, you could descend with the G/S or follow the step downs if you were doing the LOC approach.

Re: When to descend after approach clearance

Todd, I had one other thought. I have also been given a clearance to "fly heading xxx to intercept the localizer". In this example, you can not descend once you intercept. In this example you must next be Cleared For the Approach or given a lower altitude assignment in order to descend fur...

Re: When to descend after approach clearance

Hi Guys, The controller will usually give you something like this. "N6137Q, 2 miles from (waypoint), fly heading xxx, maintain xxxx until established on the localizer, cleared for the ILS (you name it) approach" Once you are ESTABLISHED on a the approach, you can descend per the approach p...
