Local pilots familiar with KEMT
I need to fly down to Caltech this coming Monday (from my home base at KEDU). It looks like El Monte (KEMT) is the closest airport, but I'm not familiar with driving conditions. Would that be the best place to fly in to? Any tips on car rentals, etc?
Thanks,
Thanks,
Re: ATC
I had that problem with the Carenado Mooney M20J on X-Plane. The xp sound controls won't turn down the engine noise, but I saw a posting that the annunciator panel volume (on the aircraft panel) would do that. That works for me. Every time I start up, I have to turn that volume way down so I can bar...

Redbird & PE?
Is this a joint venture between Redbird & PE? They mention live ATC in this video.

Re: Recommendations for quick approach practices
Had a chance do do those practice approaches at LGB, FUL and SNA again today, and pretty much nailed it. I pretty much just ignored the 430s except for tuning in the localizers & NDBs. Went much better.

Re: Recommendations for quick approach practices
I'm in a similar situation, Reece. My plane has a 430W and a KLX 155 (that is only used for COM2 since I haven't been able to use for GPS since an annual two years ago). As a result, I rely heavily on the 430 and use Foreflight on my iPad and iPhone as a backup. I want to get a Stratus II so I'll ha...

Re: Recommendations for quick approach practices
Yes, I rely way too much on my 430W. Next time I'll do it just with the VOR as it should be.
I agree, back-to-back procedures are my nemesis. I need to improve at picking up the next approach, setting up avionics, etc all while hand-flying the plane. It's a real pain for single-pilot IFR.

Re: Recommendations for quick approach practices
Well, it started out ok, but was a lesson in not flying when your mind isn't into it. Stressful day. I also just got a Saitek yoke and rudders and am still getting used to them (excuses, excuses) Left KSNA and shot the ILS 30 approach at KLGB with vectors on missed to the VOR 30. I had briefed the a...

Re: Recommendations for quick approach practices
Thanks Keith. Hopefully I'll have a chance to try that this evening.
