Re: How much power does and ATC Controller possess?
Thanks Anthony, Just so you know, "god-like powers" was not intended to be any kind of a jab. I t was only a description within the context of trying to understand what authority do controllers. Excellent explanation; however, it did not address the specifics of the OP. Perhaps I should ha...

Re: Just want to say thanks
Calvin, I agree 100% but let's not forget that between the Lower "Number" and the Higher "Number", there is still room for a lots of fun and that is great, don't you agree? ;) :D Yes, I agree 100% We should set up the "The Old(?) Gimpy Student Flight Club" fly-in one d...

Re: Coverage area update: Oakland ARTCC (Old)
Note: I got "caught" by this thread being resurrected and got all excited, but it was my fault because I didn't look at the year. I'm making this post to prevent others from getting caught in the same trap. AFAIK, there is no concrete plan to re-open ZOA anytime soon. But, if some PE offic...

Re: Just want to say thanks
   We sure could. Old is just the number... on the other hand I wish mine was lower. :o :D Cheers, AJ Yes, but... Lower "Number" = I can do things. Higher "Number" = I can't do things. Looks like the "number" does have some relevance. ;) :D But, like Mik...

AJ,
Glad I/we can be an encouragement. Between Mike, you and myself we may have the makings of "The Old(?) Gimpy Student Flight Club!"

How much power does and ATC Controller possess?
I was reading this thread and it provoked a question...
I know that a controller has almost god-like authority over his/her airspace, but do they have the authority to direct a turbojet aircraft to use a specifically stated non-turbojet SID/STAR?

Re: First SID STAR in a while
... Calvin, I think what the controller was getting at, was that I should have planned my flight better and checked for restrictions. Which in most cases I would have. Being that I was practicing for the I-9, I thought I would just say "unable". Let it be known that I did not state in the...

Re: First SID STAR in a while
Asked this same question before I did mine: http://forums.pilotedge.net/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=2694. ...EDIT: Just looked up the KIMMO2. The notes say its only for non-turbojet aircraft (except for the Palmdale transition, landing SMO). 501s and 510s are turbojet aircraft, they're just slow... I ...
