Don't they teach .65 anymore? Too many budget cuts, perhaps? *ducks*

Re: My first flight without GPS (just sharing)

That route looks fun, but if you want some true boring non-GPS challenge, try this: http://peaware.pilotedge.net/flight.cfm?id=21588 That took me 2.5 hours - Man was it boring!! At the same time it was truly fun, cause I made the weather as up to date as I could, and only did some rough TAS, course ...

Re: Canoga 1 Departure KVNY RW Procedure

One other thing that hit me, when you mentioned 320/250 Keith, is outclimbing and outdescending. The slower you go, there more of a thrust vector you can point up(and we all know why aircraft climb.......right?). Vice versa works the same way. There was a close proximity call or an incident or whate...

Re: Waypoints are not Fixes

I'd call them all three :) 1. It's a fix, since it's there :D 2. It's a vague form of an intersection, where the localizer and the 12.8DME meet. Not ideal, but if you have DME, then you could treat it as such, if you wanted. 3. It's also a waypoint, albeit not a very interesting one, as you are flyi...

Re: Canoga 1 Departure KVNY RW Procedure

I'd say it's all due to airspace size. There are a tonne of different flows in the area, and the slower you are, the tighter the turn will be, thus the controller will be able to better predict as to where you'll end up. I'd further say that this is more to do with center's workload, than departures...

Re: Nitpicking time: Change to my freq

Worse yet, what if he doesn't acknowledge, then either looses comms or 'gets lost' or unable to return to the previious frequency? Reminds me of an old thread on VATSIM forums about silent handoffs. What an ugly, ugly thing! What difference is NORDO going to make? lol... All the difference if you c...

Re: Waypoints are not Fixes

Outside the mundane definitions that might exist, I've always separated those "things", into three different groups: Fixes, intersections and waypoints. Fixes are simply that, something that's somewhere "geographically", and is literally fixed. You can or could, but needn't neces...

1. I don't like or care for Facebook.

2. I've got a free life membership so competing here wouldn't do anything.

3. Posting this as a joke, as I can't resist.

See this thread for my entry! :)
