Re: A newbies experience / Or: The unbelievable amnesia

Hey Robert, if you do your V-01 and/or V-02 at KSNA, watch out for the phantom taxiway H (if you have FSX, and if you start off on the southeast ramp like I did). While H is on the current airport diagram, it is NOT in the default FSX airport, or at least not where it's supposed to be. So I was rumb...

Lost communications KCMA-KHND

EDIT: I just listened to the recording, and at some point the controller started calling me "Pilatus 12T" instead of "Legacy 12T." Maybe that was the source of my confusion. But I still don't know why I couldn't hear the ATIS on COM2. ----------- Yesterday I flew VFR w/ flight f...

Re: Missing or misplaced taxiway at KSNA

The plane that actually came within sight, was definitely a Concorde, white, with the ogival delta wing, and gear down. Very weird. It was climbing like a rocket to my left roughly on my heading, then made a right turn into me at my altitude and climbed out of sight behind me. "AirEast 31, do y...

Re: A newbies experience / Or: The unbelievable amnesia

Robert, I am also a 51-year-old newbie in PE, with a US Sport Pilot license in the real world, about 70 hours. (Maybe that's the equivalent of an ultralight license in Europe?) Anyway, just wanted to say, I hear you, brother! PE is just like real life... My IQ drops 50 points every time I si...

Re: Missing or misplaced taxiway at KSNA

Thanks Steve, yep I printed out all the diagrams for PE airports from skyvector or airnav, they are a huge help (except when they don't agree with my flight sim, ha). I did pass my V-02... Keith had mercy on me. Then I flew from Camarillo to Henderson (Las Vegas) and apparently lost contact with the...

Missing or misplaced taxiway at KSNA

I passed my V-01 test last night, but not without some embarrassments... I was taxiing out of the southeast part of the ramp, and told to take A, H, C, K to 19R. So I'm bumbling along on A... here comes G... next taxiway must be H... wow, it's a long way down there! About the time I realize t...

More good feedback

Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed last night's presentation on using sims for primary and instrument instruction. Learned some things, got some good advice, references, and links.

Nice Job.

Question, is the Q400 intro recorded somewhere?

Thanks
Patrick

Re: First flight on PE

Thanks, Keith. Yeah, guess it's not really fair to complain about the short distance when flying the Legacy. :) I'm still getting used to that little monster. The spoilers are not optional. I've talked to the club's newsletter editor (happens to be one of my instructors) about doing a short article ...
