Re: Transponder Issue

Thank you, Peter.
I'll try both.
I know the F-100 was modified for TacPack and the transponder was modified to use as an online IFF.
This may also impact the way it's used as a traditional 4096 transponder.
At least now I have a solution.
Thanks for the replies.

Re: Transponder Issue

I tried ".X' But it read "syntax error." So I tried just "X" with 4400 as a transponder code. It read, "MARCO55 x4455" I assume that's the code the controllers will see? Also if I use this feature to set a code, then, can I disregard what is set on the airplane's t...

Re: Transponder Issue

On a recent flight I was assigned a beacon code by clearance delivery. When I was airborne, the controller said that I was squawking 1200. No matter what I did he only saw 1200. He said I could set the code in the “client” by typing, “.X” I have no idea where to type this. (I don’t even know what th...

IFR Sequencing

I thought this was kind of fun. http://www.luckygamez.com/strategy/play888 It was annoying at first because you cannot use diverging courses, which is a must for sequencing. The first two, of three levels, is fairly simple. The last is challenging, because without diverging courses, you have to be a...

Re: Hdg xxx to join the localizer

respectfully (you're one of my favorite pilots... That was a very nice compliment. Thank you :D It made my day. Maybe I'm so bent on "join" or "intercept" out of fear. When I was trained, if I screwed the pooch, I was taken out to the woodshed. They, (or we,) don't do that anymo...

Re: Hdg xxx to join the localizer

I think the issue here is people feel the need to assume and interpret. We can't assume that they "meant" it to be said. If by “they” you mean the F.A.A., then I respectfully disagree. Earlier I wrote that the old geezers who taught me said, “Join airways and routes, intercept radials and...

Re: Hdg xxx to join the localizer

I totally get what you’re saying, and on a personal level, I can see, (and agree with,) your perspective. Until I sit in the jury box on a death related case involving Air Traffic Control. Then my perspective changes. 7110.65/ 1-1-1: Purpose This order prescribes air traffic control procedures and p...

Re: Hdg xxx to join the localizer

Join or intercept
Way back when I was taught, we were told,
“Join airways and routes, intercept radials and final approach courses.”
You have to dig a bit, but it’s in there.
Join:

Intercept:

Re: Hdg xxx to join the localizer

I sometimes hear "(callsign) turn right heading 220 to join the localizer 20 right". Is this the same as "... Cleared ILS 20 right approach"? It might be worth noting that, "to join" is not authorization to intercept the localizer. If the needle begins to move and you'...
