Re: Looking for some clarification

Thanks. My reading of the transcript has me confused regarding climbing to my planned altitude. No criticism of the transcript.....my inability to understand it. The transcripts are NOT to be followed literally. There is a bit of misinformation in some of the transcripts and they are simply a sampl...

Re: Request: extended PE service time in the weekends

I'm on the East coast and on many days I could potentially fly on PE for 2-4 hrs from 7-11am but, alas, that is before the PE day begins. Indeed, the ACT group was born out of my work schedule reality and, although it may be frustrating for many at times, right now I cannot see how PE could possibly...

Re: 24 DEC 2016 - ACT on PE

What is the level experience required? Any videos available to help understand? This is a wonderful way to get comfortable with radio work and there are no prerequisites per se. If you can join us early for the brief, we go over some of the best practices and I am certain that you will enjoy the ex...

Re: Unrequested ident

Is it ever ok to ident without being requested to by atc? Like say you've been vectored towards a localizer, or radial, or are approaching a class b boundary. Radio traffic is busy, can't get a word in, about to blow by your target. Seems an ident would get the controllers attention without interru...

Re: Unrequested ident

The quick answer is “No.” Sometimes this means being aggressive, particularly if you’re beginning to cross the radial, airway or final approach course. (And it’s even more crucial when flying IMC and in areas of higher terrain.) For class Bravo, you’re required to remain outside until specifically ...

Re: Getting out of Class B airspace with flight following

Hi all, I've worked my way through the VFR workshops, what an absolutely fantastic learning experience. I feel like I'm a lot more knowledgeable and comfortable flying on the network. I'm currently working my way through the IFR workshops. Anyway one thing which I can't quite remember (I should hav...

Re: 17 DEC 2016 - Get your ACT together!

Yesterday we had another very enjoyable morning flying the circuit together before wrapping up with a quick flight to KBFL. There were 4 of us: a Skyhawk, two Skylanes and a Cherokee, running Xplane 11, Prepar3d, and FSX. Yet again I was reminded of what a friendly, talented and supportive community...
