Re: Future of VFR certs...

The special use airspace around KIZA is a corridor to bring awareness to the presence of an IFR military training route. You can largely ignore it. In the real world, the radar controller who is providing flight following would be able to keep you informed of the status of that airspace. You certai...

Re: Future of VFR certs...

The sneaky thing about those Special Military Activity areas is that unlike nearly everything else on the chart, their boundaries are listed AGL. Given the terrain in that area, you may be looking at much more than 10500 (and oxygen) to clear it. These Special Military Activity areas have been confu...

Re: Newbie Questions

A couple more possibilities that I ran into: -If you're using stock FSX for ATIS but using real world/Skyvector A/FD plates you'll find a lot of frequencies have changed since FSX was last updated. -If you're using FSX with Active Sky Next for weather, ASN's ATIS is always 122.0 for the "closes...

Re: LA Class B Mini-route in a Turboprop

Speed in the SFR area makes sense, since the aircraft are responsible for visually separating themselves via the advisory freq, but it could still be a factor for the mini-route.

Thanks Peter for the official word regarding PE controllers, and Bidimus for the info!

LA Class B Mini-route in a Turboprop

Recently, someone asked about bravo transition routes in helicopters - I have a similar request for clarification: The Mini-route restrictions state, in part, "Fixed-wing, non-turbo jet aircraft only". This *seems* to allow turboprops like the Royal Turbine Duke (B60T) I am considering fly...

Re: Next time you are at 10500 westbound..

I have the RealAir Turbine Duke too, and it's a joyful airplane. The modeling is wonderful and it's an absolute rocket. It's not as difficult to stay ahead of as I expected, with the exception of learning to manage your power early due to the sluggish response of a turbine compared to a piston. It a...

Thanks for the heads up. I was getting errors on Chino (KCNO) and didn't want to bother hacking into things, so I removed it. I just put it back after updating OpenSceneryX and all is well!

Ahh, my beloved A2A Cherokee 180...must've been fun getting her up to 10.5 in the first place, only to nearly get run over by an uppity Baron. Head on a swivel!

Bug Found with FSX PE Client Install

Hello folks, I'm a freshly activated trial member, and I had some trouble with the PE client install - hopefully this is an appropriate place to post about it. I was able to resolve it, but for documentation and future people who may run into the same issue, here's how the problem manifested itself ...
