Re: Customizing Panel/Gauge layouts in FSX
Nope -- sadly, I never figured out how to do it.

Re: Flight1Tech
I frankly just can't remember now what all my issues were. I know for sure that one of the was AP-related -- the AP would not reliably decouple in the Baron. I had a near-crash situation because when I decoupled the AP on about a 3-mile final it wouldn't let go. Even toggling the AP switch on and of...

Re: Flight1Tech
Yes, I've had it for a couple of years. It's a very good emulation of the real G1000 -- probably the highest-fidelity emulation available for a flight sim. For a long time, only a few planes were supported (and that's still true as far as I know). The website will have the list. Fairly recently they...

Re: New GPS Available
Actually, let me ask an even more basic question -- is there a user manual for the GNS 530 that describes what functions are actually simulator and which are not, that describes where to find all the various screens (I still can't find screen that offers me a choice to save or load a flight plan, fo...

Re: VFR altitude question
Reece is 100% right -- those VFR cruising altitude are mandatory. As you note, though, they only apply above 3000' AGL and you can sometimes use that to your advantage when maneuvering around complex airspace.

Re: Turbulence in Socal
I flew a simple hop from KSNA to KLAX on Wednesday evening to verify a new setup for my simulator. I knew something unusual was going on when I called CD before getting the ATIS and Janevah told me to expect Rwy 1L. ATIS had the wind at 040, something like 15 gusting 25. Hmm, I thinks, sitting there...

Very cool Keith -- thanks for posting the link to your twitch.tv. I've been able to watch Kevin as well, but not with as much traffic. I pretty much died over your off-frequency comment about the guy who called for advisories and didn't know where he was when you asked. "Really? You don't have ...

DARC = Direct Access Radar Channel ERAM = En Route Automation Modernization "Modernization" Nothing more "modern" than having a computer system crash! Edit: Looks like it was the ERAM. Here is a link to what ERAM is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ERAM Edit: And the stop was lifted...

Chas,
Hmm. I don't think I saw your message about Warpalizer. I'll go read about it.
Thanks!
