Re: FSE Newbie. Should I be flying to disused airfields?

This website adds in the airports that are in FSE but not in X-Plane. It can also add prefab scenery to airports that don't have any. Wonderful package.

Re: PMDG DC-6 Release 1 JUNE 2016

If you're a Windows user, the model is now available for $70. If you're a Mac user, yours still costs 12 million dollars. The notion of OS-specific versions of a model as separate purchases makes me sad. I won't be supporting this developer.

Re: Your favorite GA single?

First gen SR22s are non-glass. That being said, why fly a machine with avionics from last century? I absolutely love all glass. But I can understand the nostalgia that a regular six pack brings to mind. Glass avionics in sims have two problems, in my opinion. One, they tend to have small, multi-pur...

Re: Your favorite GA single?

I have both the PC-12 and Baron by Carenado and fly them both regularly. The Baron is an easy recommendation - it's a nice, fast IFR aircraft. The PC-12, on the other hand, is the most frustrating Carenado model I own. It uses a version of Carenado's manipulator technology that I have not found in a...

Re: Your favorite GA single?

Since this is in the X-Plane forum, I'm going to suggest you take a look at one of the three Carenado models for which Simcoders have done a Reality Expansion Pack. There is a REP available for Carenado's Cessna 210 , Bonanza F33A and Bonanza V35 . You must also own the corresponding Carenado model,...

Re: Pilotedge Helper: a LUA script with some handy features

Greetings, I've just installed this nifty script to get around the lack of an IDENT button, but I've encountered a problem. With the script enabled I cannot move the knob that adjusts frequencies to the right of the decimal point (ex. if the freq is "123.45" I am unable to change "45&...

Re: Size of ZL17 photoreal scenery for the coverage area

Google something like 'x-plane hdd vs ssd' and decide for yourself, but I think most folks who use ortho put it on spinny hard drives. I did a wee bit of research and a wee bit of testing and decided there wasn't enough difference in load time (and it's only the initial x-plane load that is affected...

Re: Size of ZL17 photoreal scenery for the coverage area

I am still building tiles from the 38 degree latitude line eastward from SFO, but aside from that my PE coverage area is done. Current total at ZL17 is 481 GB. As far as source goes, people tend to be shy about disclosing that - I can only assume it's an attempt to avoid the potential wrath of a lar...
