Yes, nothing has changed in this regard, other than that you will be disconnected if flying in a PE-covered area that you are not subscribed to. Areas with no PE coverage options available are not affected.

In the future, you can ensure this does not happen by verifying your PEaware flight shows as 'Landed'. Flights that are 'in progress' when the pilot disconnects will be purged after an hour.

One important clarification: the CAT ratings are not a prerequisite for the I ratings, or vice versa. You can embark on either program at any time.

PE does not currently have any ATIS implementation, so if you're hearing ATIS, it's from your sim and reflects the weather settings currently in use in the sim.
