Re: [Jul 21-25] SimVenture 2020

Not that it really matters with only one session to go, but I did have a problem, yesterday, when approaching 36L in a line for a take-off. I noticed everything had gone quiet on 126.6. So, I listened on 120.7 and 118.50. All dead. Yet, I was still on the network, and could see the CSLs in front of ...

Very good event. It's just that little bit more realistic when we hear different controllers over relatively short distances - obviously not feasible all the time! We also had the pleasure of lovely weather :D

Re: S340 CSL problem

Thanks Keith. I'll get rid of it now. I can't remember where it came from. I noted it had a 2014 date on it.

S340 CSL problem

Hardly a major problem, but curious. Noticed this in my log.txt: XSB WARNING: package '/Volumes/******/X-Plane 11/Resources/plugins/PilotEdge/VSPro Resources/CSL/S340' could not be opened. Error was: No such file or directory. XSB WARNING: package '/Volumes/******/X-Plane 11/Resources/plugins/PilotE...

Re: Thanks for the Washington Alphabet Challenge

Done........Phew. I think I now know Washington better than where I live! Some of those airports were pretty obscure, and more than one had somewhat challenging terrain around them. All well chosen, and a lot of fun. Thanks again for setting this up! I think it's time to go and do a few old favorite...

Re: Thanks for the Washington Alphabet Challenge

All good. Looking back at some of my reminiscences on the earlier Challenges, I see I did occasionally adjust the time and weather. I tend, these days, to fly with real weather, and if it looks to be a bad day, I take the same decision I take RW. I stay home. However, because PE now covers such a la...

Re: Thanks for the Washington Alphabet Challenge

The second leg to C72 presents a bit of a problem. The privately owned dirt strip field is currently closed, but will accept ski equipped aircraft. I suppose I'll have to break one of my own rules, set my own weather and season, and fly to C72 in the summer...... I don't think that breaks any Challe...

Re: [Feb 16 12p-3pm PST] EVENT: Nobody Goes to Fresno 2!

At one stage, I saw 94 pilots on at once! Wow! It's when PE is really like RW busy airspace. Well done to all the controllers - and the pilots! I had a great time

Re: [Feb 16 12p-3pm PST] EVENT: Nobody Goes to Fresno 2!

Point taken and appreciated, Kevin. I've never taken off in a Class B, RW, and have always called "Ready" in the sim, as (let's face it), we're not in a huge line in PE! On reflection, I don't remember airliners or corporate jets doing this in a busy Class C either.

Re: [Feb 16 12p-3pm PST] EVENT: Nobody Goes to Fresno 2!

I was just making absolutely certain that we were not expected to line up and go (in "defiance" of the rules!) as a convenience/time saver for the controllers in what is a special sim event. In the odd event that I've participated in, I don't remember ever not calling ready for departure -...
