Re: approach clearance
He said he was doing the I7 rating, so he would have been flying the KAVX VOR/DME, he would have been getting vectors, and he would have been approaching SXC from (roughly) the SE when cleared for the approach. What's interesting is that I remember this as the VOR/DME B approach also, but there is n...

Re: approach clearance
SXC is not the initial approach fix (IAF) -- that's RIGLI -- so I do not believe the approach has to start by overflying SXC VOR. As long as you're established on the 352 radial before you cross RIGLI outbound, I think you're fine.

Re: Real world throttle issue - recap
I practiced a failure like this once with my CFI just before I took the PPL exam. He "failed" the throttle linkage on me at top of climb -- wouldn't allow me to reduce throttle as I got ready to pull it back until I figured out how I was going to land. Since he was a high-time sailplane pi...

Re: demo of failures and custom ATC
...but in general, I think a frequency of no more than nine per flight is reasonable, with not more than three serious failures below 250' AGL after departure, and no more than two complete electrical system failures during IMC approaches to minimums. Except maybe on full moons, where it could be wo...

Re: John Wayne Airport Runway Renumbering
If anybody just wants a renumbered version of the 'stock' FSX/P3D scenery for KSNA, it's attached here. This was done with ADE, and the only difference from stock scenery is that runways and taxiway signs are renumbered. I put this in my 'Addon Scenery' folder. It's a tiny file - it's only zipped up...

Re: Instant Disconnect from PTT Switch
Yep, that took care of the problem immediately. Turns out I've always had it misconfigured -- just didn't matter until the new client version.
Thanks for the quick responses.

Instant Disconnect from PTT Switch
After a long hiatus of not flying on PE (due to work, sigh), I've finally got my my sim updated to P3D v2.3 and installed the newest version of the PE client. I have my PTT set to use the RW/SB Transmit On/Off offsets in FSUIPC (which is also the latest version). I can hear radio traffic just fine, ...

Re: IFR plane for P3d
I have the Mindstar GNS 530 working with the Carenado Cessna 337 ("Skymaster") on P3D v2.3 -- it works just fine with P3D running in normal (i.e., non-administrator) mode.
