Re: [May 21, Thursday 2000 PDT] KSNA Fly-In
It's late Eastern to try and give West Coasters a chance to get home from work - hard to balance the timezones. I went for a weekday on recommendation from Keith: it is easier for PE to staff during the week. Also, in this case Captain KW already has an event scheduled for Friday. I am going to chan...

[May 28, Thursday 2000 PDT] KSNA Fly-In
Hey Everyone, Going to revive an event I originally put together over a year ago. *NOTE* I moved this back a week to avoid conflicting with a previously scheduled event. What KSNA Fly-In. Fly whatever plane you want from where ever you want, using which ever (legal) flight rules you want to John Way...

Re: Easiest Way to Get Flight Plans into X-Plane: FMS Files
As Ken noted, simroutes.com's route generator allows you to download the flight plan in a variety of formats, one of which is X-Planes fms format. Also, myflightroute.com has TEC routes available for download as fms files.

Re: GPS Approach Peculiarities
90 degree turns on RNAV approaches are common, they're actually designed that way. http://skyvector.com/files/tpp/1505/pdf/05064R22.PDF for example. It's called a "Terminal Arrival Area" you can read more in the AIM, 5-4-5 paragraph d.

Just say nothing, and wait for the controller to get back to you.

Re: Hand flying
I'm one of the lucky few who got a mythical Iris Dynamics yoke. I got one of the very first wave that got out, and one of the very few that arrived functional. Most others were damaged in shipping. After that first wave, they redesigned some pieces and updated their shipping procedures. They were ge...

Re: Hand flying
Hand flying with a Saitek yoke is harder than with a joystick, I've found. The spring is too strong at the center and the axis tends to bind a bit - all that combines to make small pitch corrections very hard. It is possible to do, but after flying with an X52 and now a much higher quality yoke the ...
