Amazing!
I'm not too familiar with G-1000, are those COM1/2 mic and RX lit buttons a feature of the real stack? Just curious.

Re: Missed approach hold question KCRQ ILS-LOC 24
You're welcome. Just a tip, I would make sure the GPS backs up what I've read and interpreted from the plate rather than assuming the GPS is good to go. That is especially true in the simulator with non-approved setups. All of that said, it's definitely rare for an approach plate not to have holding...

Re: Missed approach hold question KCRQ ILS-LOC 24
That hold is associated with the HILPT for the VOR-A. There are no published holds at OCN on the low enroute chart. If you reach your clearance limit and no further instructions are received, you would hold on the current course, right turns, 1 min legs. Reference: https://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/pu...

Re: Rule of thumb for uncontrolled best radio freq to use
Scott, I think you're addressing the question of which freq to use at fields which don't have a published CTAF. The first post is actually asking if we can standardize on ONE CTAF freq for all non-towered airports as a PE-wide rule. I can't think of a good reason, or any real benefit, to ignoring th...

Re: [Jan 26th, 2021] 4pm PST - Mountain West Link
It's a rite of passage to miss events because of Zulu time conversions. I've seen it happen countless times in the past 15 years between PE and before that on VATSIM. Typically it'll happen once, then you'll be on the lookout for it. Any time you see a zulu time which is early morning, that should r...

Re: Drones in controlled airspace
We have a policy of not having drones fly in airspace where communication would be required with ATC. The notion of ATC having to work traffic around a NORDO aircraft doing pattern work is not a path that I am comfortable with. I would suggest organizing a pattern party at a non-towered airport. Tha...

Re: How to file the route Tutorial
Was actually just having a conversation with Peter as we talk through some of the ways in which TEC routes appear to break many of the rules regarding. Peter located the FAA order regarding the strict format of flight plans as they are exchanged from one center to another, but it's probably a little...

Re: How to file the route Tutorial
I agree, that would be a useful tool. A lot can be learned by using an FAA approved flight plannnig tool (Leidos has one, I was just using it the other day). It comes down to understanding what elements can go into a flight plan. Ignoring international flight plans which often use lat/lons, with ste...
