Network disconnection

Post by arb65912 »

Hello,

I was flying today, Saturday from KLGB to KSNA and all of the sudden I was not hearing ATC.
I checked my status and it said that I was connected but not talking to anybody.

I have tried different frequencies and no luck.
I disconnected and connected 3 times but with no luck either.

I wondered if it was something wrong with my setup or anybody else experienced it.

Cheers, AJ

P.S. I just had a great time flying close traffic and at the end , all of the sudden I could not hear ATC. My status showed online talking to KLBG.
What is wrong with my setup?

I checked this out from the show when I heard atc calling you multiple times without response.

You were still connected to the voice sever, but you were in the ' dead radio room.'

Was the plane equipped with an alternator? Was the alternator on?

If you haven't restarted xplane since then, you can paste the vspro.out file here, and that will have the answer.

If the voltage drops, the radio stops working by design.

I felt bad trying to call different frequencies but I did not hear the controllers and I understand that they could not hear me either.

I have modified the Piper and removed the generator since there is no generator switch in the one I am taking lessons with.

I did not restart the X-plane after ( I think so ) , below is the vspro.out file. I was not checking the voltage anyway.

Cheers, AJ

Hi Keith,

I will not be able to test it until tomorrow but I think I have found the problem as pointed out in your reply.

I flew my modified Cherokee 140 showing battery output on the screen and it was slowly discharging.

Then I put the alternator back and of course battery was being charged during the flight.

I am almost positive that this was the reason of losing communication with ATC.

Thank you very much for pointing me in right direction, I am almost sure it is going to work now, test tomorrow, keep your fingers crossed. ;)

Cheers, AJ
