XP11 Approach and Autopilot Not Getting Along

Has anyone else had the issue of the Xplane 11 autopilot going wonky when you try and select either new waypoints (not the next one) and/ or load an approach and have the A/P start going all wonky?
I try to remember to switch to HDG whenever I am pulling up new waypoints (again, not the next waypoint) and/ or an approach to load but then the A/P starts changing course.
Or...am I losing it?
