Saitek Radio Panel Lights

Post by Kyle.Sanders »

I have a Saitek radio and switch panel for x-plane.
About 20% of the time, the radio lights do not show on the panel but knobs still work to change the actual frequency in the sim.

What do you think it is? Power usage is too much maybe? Should I invest in a powered USB Hub like the one below? I just purchased a Saitek Pro yoke, throttle, and rudder pedal system so maybe getting this HUB will help. Think it will all work from that single HUB?

It could be a power issue. Doesn't happen often if you're directly connected to the USB ports in the motherboard, but I suppose it's possible. I ran out of ports on my system (keyboard, mouse, rudder pedals, stick, throttle, headset X2, Oculus Rift takes 3 USB ports). That's 10 USB ports by my count.

I went with one of these instead of a powered USB hub:

Works great if you have an unused PCI-E slot on your motherboard. It's powered buy a SATA power cable off your PSU and I have had no issues powering USB ports with this setup.

I had to use the USBEnhancedPowerManagementDisabler to make it work reliably. Has to be run as Admin.
