Any Sceneries for our region ?

Post by ianbennett »

Hi,

Off course I have found downloaded and installed all the free scenery provided by pilotedge, and thank you very very much.

I was wondering, does any payware scenery exist covering our flight region: photo realistic for example.

If you know about any please post here a link so others and myself can see what is out there.

Thanks a lot, and see you soon in the skies of pilotedge...

The Los Angeles scenery on Ted's Scenery Page has decent photoreal overlays, as long as your texture resolution is set high enough: http://web.me.com/theosdavis/xpfiles/downloads.html

Good downtown LA package: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app ... wfile=3859

The "NYEXPRO" scenery files have good airport layouts and objects, but need a little tweaking to remove the REALLY bad terrain overlays: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app ... =195&st=50 I've built reasonably faithful recreations of KTOA, KSMO and KWHP from those files with Overlay Editor: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?aut ... owfile=726

The only "payware" LA scenery I know of is the bonus KLAX package from the xplane.org store, which is very detailed but seriously lacks overlay resolution. Hi Jeff - Thanks for posting these links - this looks very helpful for VFR flying. Like Ian, I've installed a bunch of the scenery from http://www.xplanes-scenery.com. Do all of these play well together (the LA scenery from Ted's Scenery, the downtown LA package, and the xplanes-scenery.com packages)? For example, the xplanes-scenery.com collection has KSNA in it, and the LA scenery from Ted's Scenery does, too. I wouldn't mind if a few buildings are on top of each other in the sim, as long as nothing trips up X-Plane.

Thanks,
Doug

Now that you mention it, yes some of the duplicate airports from the various scenery packages do conflict with each other. KLAX, KBUR, KLGB being the three that I remember, there might have been more, but all you have to do is remove one of the duplicate airport folders (they're clearly labeled) from your files and see which one you prefer.

Gentlemen, maybe it is not a good idea since I am not sure how it work as far as copyrights but I think, it would be great to have the whole X-Plane for PE scenery either zipped or put on CD so we could have the download as a single shot.
I am not sure about where it could be stored because even when zipped, it would be probably quite a big file.

I downloaded all scenery for PE and I would like to take an opportunity and say THAN YOU for the authors for this great effort.
I does not change to much during the flight but adds so much to the realism when on or in close proximity of the airport.

Thank you again, Gentlemen. Cheers, AJ
