Install crashes at the end of install.

With nothing else running on my computer, I install PE as administrator and it crashes right at 95% or 100%

Then when I run FSX and then try and launch PE, it says it can't find any sim running. Any ideas?

Windows 7 (64 bit)
6 gigs of RAM
FSX SP 2

I rebooted, ran it again, and it resolved this issue.

I'm glad you're up and going now. I'm curious, though, is there any chance that you ran the FS2004 version of PE prior to the reboot? That would explain the "can't find the sim" message.

Hi Keith,
Actually it was the MSI that crashed during the installation process.

So the steps to reproduce are as follows:
1. Execute FSX SP1 Update
2. Execute FSX SP2 Update
3. Execute the PE setup MSI (on Windows 7 64 bit)
4. Click Next to install
5. progress bar gets to 95% or 100%
6. Error dialog that the MSI has "Stopped working" and to end task on it.

I probably should have collected the crash dump, but I didn't at the time. (I could try it again if you'd like me to attempt reproducing the issue?)

Please note this is after I executed the upgrade of FSX to SP1 and then to SP2. So it's possible that the system just needed a reboot before I could install PE. (Might be something to include in the step/step notes just in case to avoid this issue?)

Let me know if you'd like me to look at this further. Everything is now running great with PE on my system now after the reboot and reinstall.
