Yes...I hate new installations as well - takes a lot if time to get everything back.
I now have a backup (made with ACRONIS) of a clean Win 7 and FSX SE, were everything works fine, all joystick axes are calibrated, PE client is working etc.
If I ever have to revert back due to software issues, I do not have to start completely from scratch.
