VFR-only is going to take out the radio due to how failures are handled in Xplane at the moment. It fails the NAV (which is intentional), but takes the com with it (unintentional) because they're tied into a single failure. You don't want to use a FSE VFR only aircraft on PE if you plan on using the radio at all.
This is going to be fixed in a future xplane release, but I'm not sure if it's in 10.35 or not yet, I haven't checked.

Just wondering. Isn't the A2A Cherokee an FSX product? If so, does FSX have the same issues with failures as does X-plane?Keith Smith wrote:VFR-only is going to take out the radio due to how failures are handled in Xplane at the moment. FWWIW, you will need to know some information like WHERE the aircraft was located. Or who the owner is. Or the tail number.stevekirks wrote:AAAAUGH!
It's gone. Someone bought it or it somehow aged out. Or a glitch.
I can't believe it. I wish I had the registration that I had written down with me. Is there a way to find a plane on the network?
Also note that for "system owned" aircraft, they will randomly go "up for sale". The time of the sale is also limited.
Consider that someone who is leasing aircraft may not have the plane listed as "for sale". Consider posting a thread in the FSE Aircraft sales stating that you are new and are thinking about leasing a Cherokee and wanted to find out how leasing works (with an interesting purchasing). You may be surprised at the number of responses that you get. Be warned that you can be swimming with sharks.

There's also a raffle going on now that may be of interest to you. Tickets are 4,000 each.

Also some straight sales in the forums. This example isn't even marked as "for sale". So the only way to find out about it is to visit the forums. Note, possible already sold.

Quick reply from my phone. Not a system plane. Yes it's A2A running under Prepar3d 2.5. I have to manually set te weight and fuel. As far as VFR, the A2A Cherokee can be rigged without a gps jut would still have two radios. Would have to go with scout's honor.
X-Plane has won me over though. Better frames in my hardware plus right click to pan around the cockpit is awesome. I'm getting 30+FPS on my GT640 low profile card and quad core 2.66GHz older machine. Plus the mountains look more real although the weather and clouds can be marginal. No pun intended but appreciated.

You might already be aware of this, but have you tried FSE flight planner? It really makes finding good jobs a lot easier.wmburns wrote:I'm still amazed just how much time it does take to find good assignments heading in the correct directions. Did have some good assignments that had to be cancelled due to poor weather.
I was running FSX with some good scenery and aircraft add-ons, ORBX etc, and the eye candy was really nice. I could not imagine myself flying another sim, even with all the performance issues I was constantly having. After watching some PE twitch streams (Keith, Helipilot etc) I decided last year December to get X-plane and give it a go. I did one flight in the stock X-plane and in short, if you scan my PC now, you will not find a single trace of FSX on my machine. The X is amazing! Now I just need to find a way to change my profile name....stevekirks wrote:X-Plane has won me over though. Better frames in my hardware plus right click to pan around the cockpit is awesome. The "VFR-only" issue only effects xplane. The pilot client for X-Plane is different to the one for FSX. That, and we don't check the failure states in FSX to begin with.

I think I found the plane:
http://www.fseconomy.net:81/aircraftlog.jsp?id=30554
This matches the specs exactly and that's the right airport and flight history. It's as if someone found it, bought it and then put back up for sale at a higher price.

Just to be sure, you do realize this airplane is in Arapongas Airport Airport South America (SSOG)?stevekirks wrote:I think I found the plane:

If so, this will be an EPIC trip! Straight line distance of 5,100 NM to John Wayne. And I was thinking Canada was far to go!
Will need multiple pages of posts for the itinerary/legs documentation. In a VFR only plane with no AP to boot! You're hard core dude......

The only bad part is no PE coverage. "LA Center, Cherokee 5PK is 5000 miles southeast of the Tijuana VOR, request advisories..."

WOW. How is your dead reckoning pilotage? If I read the FSE manual correctly, a VFR only aircraft has zero navigation equipment. Which does pose a dilemma fining all of those VOR navigation points.
More than 50+ hours of just cruise time!
I take it back about you being "hard core". As AGT Mel B would say, "That's off the chain!".

Seriously. Do you have Plan-G or ForeFlight running in the background......
