busy solo operations

Post by Keith Smith »

With a number of controllers on vacation, it was solo ops last night. With little warning, it went from being relatively sleepy to having:
- two aircraft being vectored for the ILS 19R at SNA
- one being setup for the VOR/DME-B at AVX
- one being setup for the GPS RWY 24 at OKB
- one being setup for the VOR-A at FUL
- one being setup for the VOR RWY 26 at CMA
- one being setup for the visual at SBP

....all at the same time (or close enough to it, my recollection is hazy).

then continues into

I had the video recording software available in the background and hit the hotkey to start recording, but I wasn't able to verify any of the settings in advance, so I have no idea if it worked yet, will check tonight. If so, it could make for an interesting video. It's quite possibly the busiest I've been on the network so far. It wasn't the volume of aircraft, just the nature of the operations.

Everyone did a really good job, it was a good time. 127.20 had 4 people on it, all being vectored for something at the same time. I'm sure the pilots enjoyed hearing other activity on the same frequency (a relative rarity outside of published events)

It was seriously busy. I was curious how you didn't lose your voice.

Great Job, Keith!!
