[X-Plane 10] Janet Airlines (EG&G) LAS-Groom Lake (Area 51)

Post by Tomas Mateus »

So, I found this livery on the forums for the flyjsim 732, so I decided to try it.
http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app ... file=23350

Groom dry lake is located 80nm NW of LAS VOR inside R-4808N (SFC/+)

I found this website that has alot of information on these charter shuttle flights to "Dreamland Resort" (Area 51 AKA Groom Lake) including routes, callsigns, altitudes, etc... http://www.dreamlandresort.com/

Flight Route: http://skyvector.com/?ll=36.62625573734 ... 0849213894

I flew as Janet451 (WWW451)
On this website I read that the flights start at KLAS in the EG&G ramp (In between the two GA parking ramps, West of runways 01/19RL), they depart VFR with flight following, and file 14500ft DIRECT to Desert Rock AFB (KDRA). I got heading 315, VFR at or below 7000ft out of LAS, once I was clear of class B airspace, I was given own navigation, and appropriate VFR altitudes. So I joined the LAS 293R outbound to Desert Rock (formerly MCY NDB) and climbed to 14500ft (final cruising altitude). When approaching Desert Rock, I cancelled the radar service and turned north visually to the Yucca dry lake, and entered R-4808N. When passing Yucca Lake, a 015 degree turn to the right was enough for me to make visual contact with the Groom dry lake, for a visual approach into runway 32R.

I would like to thank Joe, the controller, and Pilotedge for making this awsome trip possible. (Only wish there was ATC in the military fields again :( )

Scenery for the area: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app ... wfile=9587 (not the best, but usable)

FWIW, there's never been ATC at the military fields, so you didn't miss the boat on anything :) You'll only find ATC at the joint-use military/civilian airports.
