Cessna repaint

Since I actually own a plane on FSEconomy now I decided to try a repaint. I liked the green livery of the Carenado 206 so just changed the tail number and added a sticker on the pilot door.

Very nice. I've done a lot of gauge work and modified a little in interiors but have never attempted a repaint. Not sure how to even begin. Do you have a special program for that?

This was my first try so I Googled "carenado x-plane repaint" and clicked the second result which took me here. I used Gimp but about any image editing software should work. For the 206, Carenado includes the base (white) plane with no markings. I took pieces of that image file and pasted over the tail number on my new livery image file, then added my own number on top of that. All on different layers so I could hide/show as needed for tweaking the new vs. old. It was a lot easier than I anticipated. I did cheat a little bit by having the number farther back towards the tail so it didn't have to be cut up.

Thanks, I've wanted to try a little repaint editing myself. I'll give it a go.
