KTRM-KKNB Leg 10 of Challenge

Post by Kyle.Sanders »

I'm rolling through the Alphabet Challenge... on Leg 10 here KTRM-KKNB.
Got a VFR ON TOP clearance out of KTRM and now cancelled IFR (once reaching on top) headed to KKNB.
Right here (in home picture) I'm going direct to TNP to avoid the Restricted 2501E airspace and then over to the MEADS intersection to stay clear of the SFAR for the canyon.
Then, direct to the airport.
Long flight.
Edit- just got back into some very large cloud layers so had to pick IFR back up. Going to Shoot the RNAV RWY 1 approach.

Great looking screenshots Kyle! You've got a neat looking setup there. I like that little monitor on top with all the instruments.
When I finish my ratings I'm going to be flying those alphabets too. It looks like it would be fun.
I wish that I had a second computer for looking at charts and Skyvector. I have to keep bringing up the window on my screen. I just don't know where I'd put another monitor.
I've thought about getting an iPad maybe.
When I go to take my I-9, I think I will just print everything out on paper. I don't believe I can flip screens fast enough to keep up with the altitude changes on the SID and STAR. It would be a problem.

If you can afford and iPad with a foreflight subscription, that is about the best way to do it.

The instruments at the top are very unrealistic for what type of planes I fly... the only reason I use them are to help bridge the gap of the situational awareness I would have in the real world being able to turn my head, and reach out and touch knobs. That's the only reason I have it.

I use the multiple monitors for other business so I figured I might as well make use of them while flying.
